Postdoctoral Researcher within the Cluster of Excellence Hearing4all

Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg

Oldenburg, Germany

The Division of Physiology/Prof Dr. Ivan Milenkovic at the Department of Human Medicine is seeking to fill the position of Postdoctoral researcher (Postdoc, m/f/d, salary grade E13 TV-L) within the Cluster of Excellence Hearing4all.

The loss of hair cells in the cochlea is one of the most common causes of hearing loss. The diagnosis of underlying pathophysiology plays an important role in the therapy with hearing aids. In order to characterize different pathologies, we analyze mouse models with cell-specific functional disorders in the inner ear. We correlate anatomical changes with functional tests to improve diagnostic methods for certain functional deficits. The project is embedded in the Cluster of Excellence Hearing4all (http://hearing4all.eu/EN/), an interdisciplinary cluster jointly led by the Oldenburg University, Hannover Medical School and Leibniz University Hannover.

We are looking for a highly motivated research assistant.

Required qualifications:

  • university degree (University Diploma/Master) in biology, life sciences or comparable subject area
  • doctoral degree in the field of neurosciences, life sciences or comparable area

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of auditory neurobiology and mouse genetics
  • Experience with experimental animals
  • Experience in electrophysiological recordings
  • Experience in fluorescence microscopy
  • High intrinsic motivation and enthusiasm for basic research
  • High degree of independence, diligence and ability to work in a team
  • Profound knowledge of English
