Almost 40 million people worldwide live with HIV, and a major obstacle to its eradication is the virus's persistence in a latent state within reservoir cells. Our research group at Institut Cochin specializes in understanding how HIV-1 latency is established and maintained in CD4+ infected cells. We have recently identified several pathways involving host cell epigenetic and RNA metabolism factors that lead to HIV-1 silencing at both the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels.
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to characterize one of these critical pathways at the RNA/Chromatin interface, which has been shown to be essential for HIV-1 silencing.
The Post-Doctoral position will take place in the recently established “RNA metabolism and HIV latency” group led by Roy Matkovic and composed of a PhD Student and the PI. This group is part of the Retrovirus, Infection and Latency team directed by Florence Margottin-Goguet and Claudine Pique. The project that the postdoctoral researcher will lead is funded.
