The Bioinformatics and AI Unit of the Department of Medical Informatics (DMI) at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) is looking for a passionate junior data scientist, medical informatician, or software engineer with a strong interest in machine learning, text processing, and biomedical research for a Post-Doctoral position. The position aims to support medical record analysis in the RETRACE project by applying various AI algorithms.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Data Integration Center and the Bioinformatics & AI Unit, to develop and enhance text analysis algorithms for the automatic classification of medical cases;
Import medical records (unstructured text) from an SQL database;
Clean and preprocess the text using automated or semi-automated methods;
Train and apply AI/ML models for text analysis;
Present RETRACE data, collected over the past years, in a dashboard format;
Ensure data quality and consistency and report the results;
Support the drafting of a manuscript;
Follow the high standards of LIH and best practices of AI/ML in compliance with GDPR.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

MSc or PhD in computer or natural sciences, data science, or mathematics

Technical skills:

Proficient in Python, including libraries such as PyTorch, NLTK, Transformers, spaCy, scikit-learn, NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy.
Experience with SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Ability to write and run command-line scripts in Linux.
Familiarity with Jupyter Notebook, Google Colab, and git.
Experience with running language models using Python.
Proficient level of English.
