The position is within the group of Materials Science and Engineering, which bridges the traditional boundaries between the areas of materials physics, chemistry and processing. One of the key goals is to synthesise novel materials, whose properties can be controlled by tailoring their microstructure and to develop a direct link as well as a closed loop between processing and fabrication of materials on one hand, and material characterisation and simulation/theoretical modelling on the other. Composite and nanostructured materials are in focus due to their superior functional and structural properties.
The position is announced as part of innovative research project One Textile Direction. As a successful candidate, you will be focused on the development of advanced technology based on electrospinning enabling the formation of fiber materials out of recycled synthetic and natural polymers as well as characterization and optimization of properties of the obtained fibers for following reuse in textile industry. Background in polymer chemistry, electrospinning of polymers or similar fiber technologies as well as methods used for characterization of fiber structure, composition and properties, such as optical microscopy, SEM, AFM, FTIR and similar will be an advantage. As the position is part of a large collaborative research network, the candidate should show excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate is expected to contribute not only to ongoing research project but also participate in activities supporting future research initiatives. Limited teaching within the area and in other study programmes at the University can be expected.
Appointment as Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University.
