Team Mission:

You will join the Flight Physics Capabilities team in Hamburg. We develop capabilities that enable Flight Physics to fulfill our commitments towards our incremental and future aircraft programs. We develop and maintain world-class software solutions for simulating a wide range of disciplines. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact using state of the art technologies and the latest methods and tools.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • You will solve complex physical and mathematical problems e.g. make predictions in time series domain, solve partial differential equations using Quantum Machine Learning (QML), etc.;
  • You will take an active role in understanding business requirements and translating them into technological solutions;
  • You will ask questions, challenge assumptions and bring your unique perspective to the table;
  • You will support your colleagues by sharing knowledge, providing feedback, supporting others in their development, and showing leadership;
  • You will also have the opportunity to gain experience in other teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of the flight physics disciplines.

Your boarding pass:

We are looking for candidates with experience and some of these skills already but there is no expectation to have all the skills on this list:

  • You hold a PhD or Msc in Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science;
  • You have knowledge in Statistics and probability theory;
  • You have experience in Optimization problems;
  • Big Data and data engineering, data analytics and data science are fields of expertise you have first working experience with;
  • You have knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as python or C++;
  • Interest in learning about flight physics and expanding your horizon;
  • It is an advantage if you are familiar with quantum computers and the use of quantum algorithms to solve optimization and machine learning problems;
  • It would be a plus if you are familiar with scientific computing like numerical analysis or high performance computing.

Your location:

The largest production site for civil aircraft can be found in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe means that you will travel to work by ship. The vibrant port of Hamburg is a green and cosmopolitan city brimming with culture.
