DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mechanistic and data-driven modeling of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes (model development and implementation, model parametrization, model validation);
  • Execution of simulation studies based on the developed models;
  • Support during the design and implementation of model-based controllers, e.g., model predictive control;
  • Active participation in experiments that are needed for model parametrization and controller test runs;
  • Writing of scientific publications and project reports;
  • Optional: Application of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to process model development, investigation of their suitability for process control.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • MSc degree in electrical engineering, information and computer engineering, applied mathematics or in an engineering study covering basics of system modeling;
  • Interest in process modeling as well as in process control;
  • Interest in working with Matlab/Simulink;
  • Knowledge in the basics of artificial intelligence is an advantage;
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of an international research team;
  • Interest and experience in performing top-level and target-oriented research at the interface of basic science and industrial application.
