HT is a new interdisciplinary research institute, created and supported by the Italian government, whose aim is to develop innovative strategies to promote human health and aging through a multidisciplinary and integrated approach, combining genomics, computational and structural biology and neuroscience, as well as data and decisions sciences.

The Domínguez Conde group at the Population and Medical Genomics Program at Human Technopole (HT) is looking for a Research Technician to provide technical support in several projects aimed at improving our understanding of the developing immune system and pediatric rare diseases https://humantechnopole.it/en/research-groups/dominguezconde-group/.

The successful candidate will report directly to Cecilia Domínguez Conde, Group Leader at the Genomics Research Centre.

She/he will have the following responsibilities:

  • Collection, tracking and processing of primary human samples (blood, bone marrow aspirate and lymphoid tissue) for single-cell and single-nucleus sequencing;
  • Isolation of specific immune cell subsets using flow cytometry and magnetic bead-based cell sorting;
  • Establishment and optimization of CRISPR-based knock-out and knock-in engineering in cell lines and primary cells;
  • Exhaustive documentation of experimental results and generation of progress reports;
  • Coordinating sample sequencing with the Genomics Core Facility;
  • Ensuring reproducibility and safety of lab practices via standard operating procedures and risk assessments together with the Genomics Centre’s Lab Manager;
  • Closely follow technological developments that could benefit the research group.

Job requirements

  • Master’s, PhD degree or equivalent experience in biological sciences and significant (3+ years) laboratory experience in molecular biology and immunology techniques;
  • Strong theoretical knowledge and practical skills on mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques;
  • Documented experience with setting up workflows and robust standard operating procedures for quality assurance;
  • Experience in sample preparation and tracking, specifically human tissues;
  • Hands-on experience in the use of high-throughput sequencing technologies, and ideally also single-cell sequencing and/or long-read technologies;
  • Ability to independently set priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Highly organised and meticulous;
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills;
  • Ability to interact effectively with other teams and work synergistically to drive projects forward;
  • Fluency in English – HT is an international research institute;
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;
  • Special consideration will be given to candidates who are part of the protected categories list, according to L. 68/99.
