About the team/job

The Watt group at EMBL Heidelberg is recruiting a technical/research assistant. The group's research explores cell fate decisions in adult mammalian skin, using cell culture and mouse models. Techniques include single cell RNA sequencing, computational analysis and live cell imaging. We are recruiting a technical/research assistant to support our team.

The ideal candidate will participate in projects in collaboration with other team members, including pre- and postdoctoral researchers.

Your role

Responsibilities may include:

  • Ensuring maintenance of the group's mouse stocks;
  • General molecular biology and protein biochemistry techniques;
  • Culture of primary human epidermal cells and fibroblasts;
  • Preparing and labelling tissue sections with antibodies and RNA probes;
  • Inventory and order management, organization of common tasks, point of contact for sales and facilities.

You have

  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently and rigorously;
  • Experience in one or more of: cell culture, mouse models, confocal microscopy, live cell imaging, histology;
  • Ability to communicate (spoken and written) fluently in English (lab's working language).
