Postdoctoral Fellow in Supernova/Kilonova Research

Postdoctoral Fellow in Supernova/Kilonova Research

Stockholm University

Stockholm, Sweden

Project description

The position involves modelling and interpreting supernovae (core-collapse or thermonuclear types) and/or kilonovae (neutron star merger ejecta). The successful applicant will work in the group of Dr. Anders Jerkstrand, which focuses on the theory of light curve and spectral formation in these transients, with aim to develop and apply models to understand their origin, explosion mechanism, and element production. The specific project will depend on the interests and background of the applicant, and several combinations of modelling and data analysis are possible.

Main responsibilities

The position involves carrying out research, both independently and collaboratively within the group. The candidate is expected to actively participate in group and department activities, and assist in supervision. The candidate will present results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and at international conferences.
