Scientific Project Manager - Functional Genomics

HT - Human Technopole

Milan, Italy

Job description

The Human Technopole Foundation is looking for a Scientific Project Manager for the HT Centre of Genomics - Functional Genomics Programme.

The mission of the Center for Functional Genomics will be to elucidate key biological questions including “how the genome is regulated in each cell, tissue and organ in health and disease”, “what are the molecules and networks that drive biological activity in cells, tissues, organs”, and “how to modify genome regulation and genome output in health and diseases”. We will identify and characterize functional and regulatory non-coding genomic element networks in different cells and tissues of the human body, with the goal to identify the grammar of the genome, which will ultimately provide deeper understanding of genome function and enable biology and genomics medicine.

To address these challenges, the Centre develops original technologies to identify and functionally characterize regulatory elements, long non-coding RNA, genome conformation, interactomes of biological molecules in living cells and computational approaches to study genome regulation. These approaches are broadly used to map the function and regulation of human genome in health and diseases across human diversity and ultimately derive actionable targets.

To fulfill its missions, the Center broadly collaborates with other Centers at HT, with international and domestic universities, hospitals and other research organizations and coordinate/participate activity of collaborative consortia.

The Scientific Project Manager, reporting directly to Piero Carninci, the Head of the Centre of Genomics, will provide high level scientific administrative and strategic activities, with both external-and internal-facing duties.

S(he) will have the following main responsibilities:

  • Administrative and logistic support for seminars, events, consortia activity and special projects;
  • Supporting the management of communication of the Research Centre, managing the official social network accounts of the Research Centre labs and archiving the relevant blogs/threads/posts.

Internal-facing duties will include:

  • Administrative and/or scientific support vis-a-vis the relevant units within HT (scientific and strategic affairs, ERSU, Legal, Finance, Procurement, DPO, IT etc.);
  • Management of tasks and operational processes;
  • High level finance and budget administration, grant costing, and liaising with Finance;
  • Procurement: legal responsibility as RUP for all activities of the Centre;
  • High-level management of centre logistics (faculty onboarding, space management, HR issues etc).
