Protealis develops superior seeds and seed technologies for legume crops that are adapted to our local environment. By combining innovation in breeding and nitrogen fixation we create new opportunities for European farmers to help overcome Europe’s protein deficit and provide local sourcing options for the growing number of producers of meat and milk alternatives.

Why do we need you?

At Protealis we maximally want to make best possible use of the synergy between legume species and their symbiont soil bacteria to maximize yield and quality. In collaboration with our R&D partners we discover, test, optimize production and perfect coating solutions for such bacteria. In this context we are looking for scientist to set up and lead our microbiology and coating R&D efforts.

What do we need you to do?

  • Design, plan and execute microbial R&D projects to deliver on the company strategy and milestones;
  • Coordinate between internal and external R&D activities to make best use of the resources and maximize success;
  • Design your operations from the ground up including lab setup and establish a small but high performant team;
  • Leverage your creativity and network to raise ideas and go beyond the conventional to find solutions;
  • Keep abreast of your field and translate your knowledge into new company opportunities for your field of expertise;
  • You communicate candidly on progress and take responsibility for your field towards our internal team and partners;
  • You pro-actively collaborate with the leadership team to which you belong to ensure we align for success.

What experience are we seeking?

  • An experienced scientist with a PhD in microbiology (or equivalent through experience);
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in plant-microbe interactions or soil microbiome, experience Ag biologicals is a clear plus;
  • You know how to map down the path to project milestones into a plan of required experiments including resources and timelines;
  • You have demonstrated to be able to translate your knowhow into solution proposals that address existing problems.
