The Human Technopole Foundation is looking for a Senior Technician in single-cell Omics to work in the Genomics Core Facility, a state-of-the-art research support unit dedicated to providing leading-edge next-generation-sequencing services in the areas of the genome, transcriptome, and epigenome profiling, both in bulk tissues and single cells, with a strong emphasis on single-cell multi-omics or other omics technologies, large-scale genome sequencing projects and multiplexing of genomic assays.

S(he) will report to the Senior Manager of Multiomics Technologies - Genomics Core Facility, and will have the following key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Set up, develop, and optimize experimental protocols in functional genomics with particular emphasis on the experimental procedures for isolation, processing, and analysis of single cells;
  • Handle sample and library preparation, including through automation-intensive workstations;
  • Handle a wide range of single-cell experimental workflows including pre-processing, quality control, and data acquisition;
  • Import newly available single-cell and other omics protocols and/or collaborate with experimental labs to standardize/implement/automated bespoke multi omic workflows;
  • Manage data collection and evaluation support, including the implementation of a LIMS for data and sample tracking;
  • Support data and metadata processing, analysis, collection, and storage, including for integrative single cell and other multi-omic pipelines;
  • Support in the development and implementation of SOPs and/or pipelines;
  • Manage the day-to-day access to the facility by new internal users;
  • Provide introduction, training, and assistance to new users of the facility;
  • Participate in key aspects of general lab management and organization (e.g., managing inventories and stocks of samples, reagents, equipment, and materials;
  • Communicate regularly with other experimental laboratories on the flow and timeline of sequencing projects;
  • Liaise with the facility of Computational Genomics to export data in pipeline-ready formats.

Job requirements

  • Master’s degree in a relevant subject, e.g., molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or in a related field of the life sciences;
  • Considerable experience in laboratories involved in the areas of main responsibilities, with particular emphasis on genomics and delivering single-cell and multi-omics projects (+5 years of hands-on experience);
  • Track record in the following areas: Functional Genomics libraries preparation and optimization for next-generation sequencing; Molecular Biology (DNA and RNA manipulation, cloning, sequencing, RT-PCR and library preparation for next-generation sequencing applications), Protein Biochemistry (immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation techniques, preferably also recombinant protein expression, purification and in vitro reactions), Cell culture, transfection and knockdown experiments (siRNA, shRNA, antisense and similar technologies) to probe gene functions. Previous work with laboratory animals will also be considered a relevant asset;
  • Experience in preparation of single-cell multi-omics technologies, (eg. Illumina, 10x Genomics);
  • Good working knowledge of bioinformatics tools to handle, store and prepare files from genomics data;
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, proactive attitude and ability to work to deadlines;
  • Fluency in English – HT is an international research institute;
  • Proven communication, team building, and problem-solving skills.
