The Structural Biology Platform at the FMI is looking for a talented scientist experienced in cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), who would like to contribute to the establishment of cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET).
Main responsibilities
- Support users with negative stain and cryo-EM sample preparation;
- Support users with sample loading and high-resolution cryo-EM data acquisition;
- Be a key driver within the facility team to establish cryo-ET and in-situ cryo-EM at FMI;
- Help users with single-particle data processing and analysis;
- Train PhDs and postdocs in operating transmission electron microscopes;
- Organize workshops on cryo-EM and image processing.
Profile
- Ph.D. in structural biology with specific training in cryo-EM;
- Hands-on experience with the operation of high-end TEMs, such as Titan Krios and Glacios;
- Experience with high resolution single-particle structure determination;
- Knowledge of cryo-ET and subtomogram averaging would be an advantage;
- Basic understanding of cryo-CLEM and cryo-FIB would be a plus;
- Good IT skills, team player and service-oriented attitude.
