To support our team in an ongoing Academy of Finland project, the group of Bioorganic Chemistry at Aalto University invites applications for the position of a POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER in ENZYME ENGINEERING.
The position and our expectations:
The open postdoctoral position is going to start off a new endeavour in which we attempt to repurpose copper-centred monooxygenases as catalysts for new-to-nature reactions. The SweetCopper project aims at developing non-natural catalytic transformations based on fungal metalloproteins, the investigation of underlying mechanisms, and the engineering of the proteins to improve stereoselectivity and broaden the reaction/substrate scope. Key qualifications: experience in heterologous expression of fungal enzymes, protein engineering, directed evolution.
To qualify for this position, you need to check the following boxes:
- a doctoral degree in a suitable field such as molecular biology or biotechnology;
- a proven track record of research at a high scientific level;
- motivation, commitment and good teamwork skills;
- good written and oral communication skills in English.
