Human Technopole is looking for a Scientific Officer to support the Directorate and the Strategy and Scientific Affairs department.

The Scientific Officer, reporting to the Director and interacting closely with the Head of Strategy and Scientific Affairs, will be responsible for providing professional, highly organised and efficient support in the production of scientific content, documents and policies.

(S)he will have the following main responsibilities

  • Preparing presentations, speeches, briefings and written documents for the HT Director and Head of Strategy and Scientific Affairs for a variety of audiences;
  • Providing scientific input and advice on communications by the President as required;
  • Collecting and compiling information and data on HT’s scientific activities and achievements, as a basis for the production of accurate and engaging content;
  • Drafting and editing scientific texts;
  • Contributing to and supporting the production of HT institutional documents and reports, including the HT Annual Report, Strategic Plan and others;
  • Drafting and editing internal procedures and institutional policies related to the performance of research;
  • Collecting information on topics of strategic interest to HT for proposals for new research-related initiatives or policies;
  • Liaising with the HT Communications department to ensure accuracy of scientific editorial content;
  • Writing reports and summaries of internal and external meetings as required;
  • Following developments at HT and networking with staff, particularly – but not limited to – the areas of Research and Scientific Infrastructure and Facilities.

Job requirements

  • University degree in life sciences;
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the area of research-related project management, science management or scientific communications in an internationally diverse setting;
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex scientific concepts and communicate them effectively to different target audiences;
  • Native or fluent English speaker, fluency in Italian an advantage;
  • Excellent writing skills and proven ability to draft editorial content;
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines, prioritise and handle a number of tasks simultaneously;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of varying teams;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, presentation software packages (e.g. Powerpoint and Keynote), email and internet applications;
