The Human Technopole Foundation is looking for a Scientific Computing Support Manager.

The Human Technopole Foundation (HT) is in the first phase of building its core High Performance Computing and Data Storage Infrastructure and the team that will be responsible for the implementation and continued maintenance of various centralized Scientific Computing systems.

The Scientific Computing Support Manager will have the following main responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of technical staff which will implement and maintain services and workflows across the institute, particularly in the area of HPC;
  • Define, implement and maintain a streamlined catalogue of supporting scientific software derived from the requirements of the HT scientific community;
  • Coordinate the deposit of data in public databases when necessary;
  • Collaborate with scientists to set up and optimize automatic data analysis pipelines in the HPC cluster;
  • Contribute to the future planning of the HPC architecture resources based on curated requirements across HT and assistance in the tendering/purchase of required hardware;
  • Report requirements of data storage policies in terms of short and long-term data storage and associated security obligations, particularly in the area of patient-sensitive data;
  • Keep the technology portfolio in HPC development continuously updated and import new relevant technologies both in hardware and software;
  • Consult and train the HT community on the use of scientific software;
  • Report to the Scientific Computing Steering Committee and to the IT manager.

Job requirements

Requirements:

  • University degree in Computer Science, related fields or equivalent experience;
  • 5 years working knowledge of configurating and administering a HPC cluster;
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux flavours;
  • Strong working knowledge of HPC job scheduling (SLURM, PBS, etc.);
  • Strong working knowledge of configuration management (Ansible/Puppet);
  • Strong working knowledge of Container orchestration and container technology (Docker, Singularity or any OCI Images);
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD;
  • Understanding of GPU and accelerator technologies;
  • Proficient in compilation and optimizations based on CPU instructions sets;
  • Knowledgeable in scripting and parallelization (pssh/clustershell/Python);
  • Experience with Docker and/or Singularity;
  • Knowledge of NextFlow and/or SnakeMake;
  • Welcome k8s experience;
  • Fluency in English.

Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • Previous work experience in publicly funded or private research institutes.
