The position is in the field of synthesis of supramolecular host compounds for the purpose of drug delivery. The host compounds we synthesize are macrocycles, cyclic molecules that can carry and deliver drug molecules within their cavities to the human body. The postdoctoral researcher would be responsible for the synthesis of these organic compounds with possibility to study their complexation properties and dynamics in solution by NMR. The object of study are azobenzene and calixarene derived macrocyclic host compounds.
The duties will also include supervising PhD students and MSc students, currently we plan to have one PhD student and one MSc student working with the postdoc.
For further information, please visit the institute’s home page and the links within: https://kbfi.ee/chemical-physics/research/supramolecular-chemistry/?lang=en. Inquiries about the position can be made to Jasper Adamson, email@example.com.
The position is open 1st of January, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is lasting for 2 years with a possibility to extend for year 3.
The position is funded by the Estonian Research Council, through the grant PSG400.
The gross salary – depending on previous experiences and qualifications – starting from €2,000 and full health and social insurance.
The application must be emailed to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The deadline of application is 5th of November, 2020.
The host institution, NICPB, has a fully equipped organic synthesis laboratory to carry out the organic reactions; 500 and 800 MHz solution NMR spectrometers for characterization of the structures of the synthesis products and for determining complexation properties; GC-MS and HPLC capacity. We work closely with the Tallinn University of Technology, where we would have access to HRMS facilities.
