We seek two postdoctoral researchers associated with the ERC-funded project “Three-dimensional spectral modelling of astrophysical transients: unravelling the nucleosynthetic content of supernovae and kilonovae”, led by Dr. Anders Jerkstrand.
The positions are focused on developing and applying light curve and spectral models in order to diagnose the structure and composition of SNe and KNe. The work can involve improving the physical treatments in spectral modelling code (the group uses mainly the SUMO code), including gas microphysics and radiative transfer, calculating new models, and also data collection and analysis. One position will be KN-focused and the other SN-focused (core-collapse variant). The ultimate goal is to better understand the stellar origin of these transients, the physics of the explosion, and the origin of the elements.
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.
The degree should have been completed no more than three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, clinical attachment, elected positions in trade unions, or similar.
In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills and productivity.
