The research group “Fluid Dynamics of Complex Biosystems” headed by Prof. Dr. Natalie Germann has an open postdoctoral position in the field of encapsulation.
When insecticides are applied in farming, some portions remain in the air and can be harmful to other animals in the surrounding environment. The goal of this joint industrial project is to design a new product. By means of the single emulsion solvent evaporation method, you will create microcapsules filled with the insecticide. The microcapsules will be based on environmentally friendly materials and will be in dry form to have a long shelf-life. For the final spraying application, the dry microcapsules will be dispersed, and their release will be triggered mechanically.
We are looking for a talented individual who is excited about the project topic. He/she should be able to work independently as well as to cooperate in an interdisciplinary team of researchers. Applicants should hold a PhD degree in chemical engineering, bioprocess engineering, material science or a closely related field. He/she should have a background in encapsulation and experimental rheology. Good communication skills and fluency in both written and spoken English are required. German language skills are desirable.
