The selected candidate will join Dr. Laura Cancedda’s research line ‘Brain Development and Disease” in the framework of a commercial agreement with a foreign company specialized in the development of gene therapies.
The overall goal of the Cancedda Research Line is to understand the molecular determinants of neuronal circuit development in health and disease with a combination of in vivo and in vitro approaches (Naskar et al., Nature Communications, 2019; Szczurkowska et al., Brain 2018; Szczurkowska et al., Nature Protocol., 2016; Deidda et al., Nature Neuroscience, 2015; Deidda et al., Nature Medicine, 2015).
This specific project will focus on the development of a gene therapy for Down syndrome.
The ideal applicant has strong experience in behavioral testing and stereotaxic surgery on murine models.
IIT hosts interactive groups in neurophysiology, cellular/molecular neurobiology, neurotechnologies and behavioral neuroscience, and it provides state-of-the-art facilities in microscopy, electronics, molecular/cell biology and rodent genetics.
