Job description

As Valorisation Manager acting for the EGAMI consortium active in the field of imaging (microscopy, in vivo animal MRI, PET and BLI), you will have the following tasks:

  • From a valorisation management perspective, you consolidate and expand the existing ‘critical mass’ of the IOF Consortium in terms of expertise, equipment and personnel with the aim of:
    • stimulating co-operation with industry;
    • valorization of scientific data;
    • building up a knowledge and IP portfolio of potential interest to industry;
    • professional management of current applied research and valorization projects.
  • You collaborate with industry to explore opportunities for new research topics with the aim of capitalising upon the existing expertise in the IOF Consortium;
  • Based upon the excellence of the IOF Consortium you stimulate (interdisciplinary) collaboration with other faculties/departments/research groups of the university, as well as with the university colleges belonging to the association (AUHA), and you create national and international collaborative networks. Hereby focusing also on new initiatives concerning translational medicine.

In summary, your efforts should be focused on industrial valorisation of innovative research results and technologies obtained within the consortium aiming to contribute to the IOF-parameters of the University of Antwerp.

Profile and requirements

  • Preferably you are holder of a doctoral degree in the domain of the IOF Consortium. If not, you have at least 5 years of relevant expertise related to its research domain:
    • microscopical imaging, in vivo small animal MRI and PET Imaging and quantitative image processing;
    • biomedical research;
    • molecular imaging;
    • translational research insights;
    • Pharmacy and drug development.
  • You possess strong management, administrative and communication skills;
  • Relevant work experience in both academic and industrial research is a strong asset;
  • Experience in attracting external research funding from the private and public sector in the domain of applied research on national as well as international level is desirable;
  • Knowledge of technology transfer processes needed to valorise academic research results and available lab technology as well as experience in managing a broad project portfolio is an asset;
  • Experience with EC projects and the related administration is an advantage;
  • You are quality-oriented, conscientious, creative and cooperative.
