Project leader:

Paweł Niewiadomski PhD hab.

Project title:

Role of primary cilia in the activation of Gli transcription factors in Hedgehog signaling

Project Description:

Cancer is a disease of transcription factors – they drive tumor growth, metastasis, and prevent cell death in cancerous tissue. Gli proteins are transcription factors involved in many tumors. The mechanisms of the transition of Gli proteins into active drivers of transcription is poorly understood. To discover the molecular foundations of the regulation of Gli proteins in development and disease, you will use state-of-the-art techniques ranging from bioinformatics, through genetic manipulations to quantitative proteomics and confocal microscopy both in cell culture and in vivo.

Key responsibilities include:

Develop new ideas, plan experiments, perform experiments, analyze data, prepare manuscripts, present at conferences.

Profile of candidates/requirements:

You need to be:

  • Creative and an analytical thinker;
  • Willing to take initiative in big-picture thinking, experimental design, and troubleshooting;
  • Passionate about hard work in a high-pressure environment.

Other requirements:

  • Solid publication record in peer-reviewed journals;
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English;
  • PhD degree in biology, medicine, pharmacy, or related fields.

Preferred, but not strictly required:

  • Experience in molecular cloning, cell culture, proteomics, animal models and/or fluorescence imaging.
