The aim of this project is to develop novel wearable devices and processing algorithms that can return useful information for either the feedback control or for monitoring the status of the patient in real time. These algorithms will process the data coming from e.g. EMG, pressure, oximeters, etc. to return valuable information on fatigue, position/orientation, health of the patient so that the device or clinician can counteract accordingly. The devices and the estimation/sensor fusion algorithms developed will be tested on elder patients and patients with pathologies such as SCI, stroke, and amputated subjects.
The project will be carried out at the Rehab Technologies Lab of IIT. It will be a technological challenge in which the Rehab Technologies team will share resources, competencies and motivation to achieve excellent results transferable to the medical field.
