FBK is a private research institute based in Trento (Italy) and operating in different scientific and technical fields and disciplines. It aims to maintain the prominence of the Autonomous Province of Trento research system within the international research landscape. FBK is made up of seven centers with different research interests (www.fbk.eu/research-centers).
The FBK Centre for Materials and Microsystems (CMM) is a research centre that operates in the following scientific and technological areas: materials and interfaces, devices and microsystems, integrated systems. CMM has an extremely advanced technical know-how in applied material science, as well as silicon-based microfabrication technologies. The strategic mission of the CMM is scientific excellence combined with the ability to exploit research results. The innovation model is open to collaboration in national and international networks.
More information about FBK-CMM is available at https://cmm.fbk.eu/en/.
The scientific activities of the “ARES” unit are focused on developing new energy systems and technologies based on renewable sources enabling energy generation from multiple sources in particularly for distributed energy networks. The main fields of research are in the hydrogen, concentrated solar power and redox flow batteries sectors. ARES uses its unique combination of equipment and expertise on multiscale modelling, system integration and validation from small scale to real scale solutions and prototypes.
The purpose of FBK’s Tenure Track program is to offer high level professionals the opportunity of pursuing a structured career path in order to become tenured researchers or technologists and contribute to the long-term strategy of the organization.
Within this framework, the center for Materials e Microsystems of FBK (FBK-CMM) is looking for a Technologist in the field of low carbon energy systems.
The successful candidate will be engaged in handling project-based activities in the domain of energy production, storage and distribution, supporting the simulation and engineering study for advanced energy systems.
He/she will support the Head of Unit in project planning and preparation, managing work packages and/or tasks, presenting status and activities to the research/industrial networks where ARES is participating. He/she will also support enterprises in engineering and modelling (multi objective optimization, multiscale engineering) and will support local agencies and institutions in devising and deploying actions in the field of energy production and distribution (e.g. new tech projects, Smart City projects, energy scenarios).
The successful candidate is expected to perform, organize and coordinate activities in the energy sector for improved energy efficiency, improved management systems, accurate technical and economic evaluations through feasibility studies, system analysis and pre-engineering.
Type of contract: Tenure Track contract, leading to an FBK 3rd Level Technologist (T3) permanent contract.
Duration: The maximum duration of the Tenure Track contract is up to 5 years (which may be reduced depending on the assessment by the Committee of the candidate’s capacities and skills). If the final assessment of the Tenure Track experience is positive, the selected candidate for the tenure track position will be offered a permanent full-time contract.
