The Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a full-time Junior Research Group Leader (f/m/x) to conduct independent research in the field of Protein Homeostasis.
The project starts on 01.01.2020 and is limited until 31.12.2024 (third-party funded project).

This appointment, equivalent to a non-tenured W1-professorial position is available for applicants holding MD, MD/PhD or PhD degree and will be offered for a period of five years. Payment and social benefits are in accordance with the regulations of the German salary agreement for public service employees (TV-L).
The position includes core support for funding a PhD student and a technician as well as consumables. As associated JRG group of the Center for Molecular Medicine Cologne (CMMC) the center will provide institutional support, including modern laboratory space and state-of-the-art facilities in addition to career advancing training and mentoring support (www.cmmc-uni-koeln.de).
Candidates should have an excellent track record with first and/or last author publications on protein quality control, ideally within 4-6 years of postdoctoral research experience. Moreover, it is expected to integrate and strengthen the interdisciplinary and collaborative environment of the Cologne Life Science Campus, including the Cologne Excellence Cluster CECAD, the local Max-Planck Institutes for Biology of Ageing and for Metabolism Research, the Cologne Center for Genomics (CCG) and the Center for Integrated Oncology (CIO), and additional Collaborative Research Centers and Research Units on the campus.
In addition to an innovative biomedical research interest and an excellent track record in the field of Protein Homeostasis and Physiological Regulation of Stress Response the Medical Faculty seeks to appoint a candidate with the capacity to develop independent research programs with extramural funding. Motivation to further develop academic teaching experience and qualifications (e.g. support to obtain the Habilitation will be provided) is expected.
