Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position at the Department of Physics in the College of Science at Swansea University, to develop research in the field of theoretical quantum information, as a member of the research group of Prof Markus Müller.

We seek a highly motivated, skilled and independent researcher, who will join our theory group and proactively contribute to ongoing grant-funded research in the area of quantum information, and in particular topological quantum computation and quantum error correction (QEC).

Main Duties

  • Develop and perform research in the field of theoretical quantum information, under the supervision of Prof Markus Müller, and according to the activities and research goals within the international CETO research grant collaboration;
  • Proactively participate in the activities of the Quantum Computing and Simulation Research Group, e.g. group seminars, journal club and postgraduate lecture series;
  • Participation in the wider Atomic, Molecular and Quantum Physics (AMQP) group’s research activities, e.g. in attending and organising seminars and conferences, as well as presenting research results;
  • Prepare paper drafts and reports describing the results of the research, both confidential, for project review, and for peer-reviewed publication. The appointee is expected to be actively engaged in the writing and publishing of research papers, with a high degree of independence, particularly those intended for publication in refereed journals as a normal part of their role;
