A successful applicant will have a Ph.D in systems biology, bioinformatics, statistics or computer science, and prior experience in the mathematical/computational analysis or design of biological systems. The applicant should also have basic knowledge in human biology, biochemistry, or metabolism. The research work primarily includes analyses from the METSIM cohort comprising genetic data (common and rare variants, exome and genome sequencing), and detailed phenotyping data (epigenetics, microbiota. metabolomics).
A person to be appointed as a postdoctoral researcher is required to hold an applicable doctoral degree (UEF University Regulations, Section 31). The doctoral degree may not be from more than 5 years ago at the time when the position starts. An applicant with a doctoral degree completed more than 5 years ago can be considered for a specific reason only (maternity, paternity, parental or child care leave, military or non-military service). If the applicant pleads to the above mentioned reasons, he or she needs to explain them in the application.
Mobility after the completion of the doctoral degree is required (having experience from some other research environment than the one awarding the doctoral degree). A research environment refers to a local research community or a group in which the researcher works. The mobility requirement is automatically met for those applicants who are planning to change their recent research environment by applying for this Postdoctoral Researcher position at the School of Medicine at the University of Eastern Finland. Previous mobility periods or a plan of future ones should be indicated in the application.
Experience in international research cooperation or international researcher mobility will be regarded as merits.
Good command of the English language is required.
