Touch and feel are central to our perception of the world and to our well-being. The “Interactive Surfaces” group at INM, led by Roland Bennewitz, develops surfaces with defined surface structure and interface energy to create materials with strong haptic appeal and potential for effective tactile signaling. Our psychophysical projects connect material development, skin physiology, and skin friction with tactile perception. 

We open the position of a 

POST-DOC (F/M/D) – TACTILE PERCEPTION OF MATERIALS – STRUCTURE AND CHEMISTRY OF SURFACE AND SKIN 

The postdoctoral fellow has the opportunity to collaborate with the Center of Experimental and Applied Cutaneous Physiology (CCP) at the Charité Hospital in Berlin (Prof. Meinke). Extended visits at the CCP can be part of the project and will be adequately supported.

Your profile:

• Broad background in materials science, physics, physiology, or cognitive psychology
• Strong interest in interdisciplinary research and collaboration 

Candidates should be self-motivated, have good interpersonal, communication and writing skills, and a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels. The ability to work as a member of an international, multi-disciplinary team is a critical asset, and proficiency in English is mandatory.
