Post-doc Ecosystem Modelling
Wageningen University
Noord-Holland, Netherlands
We are looking for
a post-doc who will be responsible for the second phase of the realization of the biological and chemical modelling.
Within the Dutch scientific programme “Changing carrrying capacity of the Wadden Sea and North Sea coastal zone” the sub-project "Wadden Sea ecosystem data assimilation and integrated modelling" aims at a numerical integration of physical, chemical and biological processes by development and application of ecosystem models.
The numerical model will be used to address a number of research questions, such as what the possible effects are of nutrient emission reductions, of shellfish fisheries, of the presence or absence of mussel beds or of changes in the adjacent North Sea on the primary and secondary productivity of the Wadden Sea ecosystem.
We ask
a candidate
- having a PhD in i.e. technical sciences or bio-mathemathic
- having experience in numerical modelling
- having at least some experience with GETM/GOTM
- having experience in programming, software engineering (i.e. Linux, Fortran, R and/or Matlab) and constructing complex models
- who likes working intensively together within the project team
- fluently speaking Dutch, English or German
Candidates with at least a basic knowledge of biological and chemical processes are preferred, as are candidates with some experience in parallel computing.
