Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Swine Influenza
The Pirbright Institute
Pirbright, United Kingdom
The successful candidate will perform a series of one-to-one challenge studies to define transmission parameters for influenza in pigs. This quantitative knowledge is critical for developing efficient, targeted control strategies. The studies will be performed on three sites, The Pirbright Institute, APHA Weybridge and Bristol, researchers from all three sites will be involved in each of these studies.
A major strategic goal of this programme is to understand whether current vaccines and novel broadly cross reactive vaccines can block influenza transmission. The successful candidate will have completed training in a wide range of in vitro and ex vivo immunological and virological techniques such as proliferation, FACS analysis, ELISA and ELISPOT. In addition, the post-holder will help design and conduct the animal studies at Pirbright and support studies at Bristol and APHA.
